Since our studio in Amsterdam likes to enjoy some music every now and then, we bought a set of Sonos speakers. We were thinking of options to make them blend into our interior – in a beautiful way of course. The idea of textile covers in unique, calm colors to give them more warmth came to us. Soon, we asked Joel and Kate (from Studio Truly Truly) if they could help us out and design something that could make that idea possible. Together with the textile museum they came up with knitted covers that fit the Sonos speaker perfectly and looks amazing. We were such big fans of the idea, that we decided to come up with a brand for the covers, so we weren’t the only ones that could enjoy this product. We kept referring to the covers as Skins for the speakers, so the name Soundskins originated.

Droog is an anti-disciplinary, conceptual design company that since its formation in 1993 has been thought of as the epitome of the Dutch design industry.
At the end of 2016, a close retail customer informed us that Droog was shifting its focus towards their cultural and social programs and as a result were unable to continue the production and distribution of several absolute Droog design classics.
As longtime admirers of their products and concept, we contacted Droog and began what quickly became a great collaboration. We decided that VANMOKUM was now responsible for worldwide distribution of the current collection, and would do all of the technical product development for future products.
Rennie Ramakers (alongside Droog) will be curating all new product lines.

LEFF amsterdam originated because we wanted to create a brand where we did not have to make concessions or take decisions based on commercial reasons. With this brand we got the opportunity to do things exactly the way we wanted. We started by making a collection of 6 interior time pieces, in collaboration with known and unknown designers. It wasn’t until after we teamed up with Piet Hein Eek, LEFF amsterdam developed itself into the unconventional watch brand like it is today.

We started out in 2015 as the distributor of the Danish brand called Frama. Frama consists of an amazing team that brings creativity, lighting and furniture to a whole new level. Niels soon asked us if we wanted to take care of all technical product development and distribution of Frama lighting. Of course, an offer we couldn’t refuse…

Karven was created as a brainchild by us and our close friend/designer/artist VanJoost. After being friends for several years, we decided it was time for a new lighting brand. Not only because Joost showed us (again and again) amazing designs, but also because we realized many designers came to us with amazing ideas for lighting that didn’t fit any other labels we have. Karven was created to give designers the option to start a collection under the name Karven. Joost is the Art director for Karven, and we take care of technical product development, marketing and sales.

In 2011 we visited the Furniture fair in New York where we ran into two great architects: Seth and Jon, the founders of Graypants. They showed us their work, which was an amazing collection of lights and several projects that were still in development. To our surprise, we found out that the inspiring and beautiful collection wasn’t sold worldwide. It turned out Graypant’s focus was mainly on designing products, projects and architecture. This makes every product designed by Graypants unique.
Since our specialty lies in technical product development, production and worldwide distribution, we decided to team up. Now, we take care of ‘the business side’ and give everyone in the world the opportunity to enjoy Graypants products.

A beautiful smoke alarm has no need to be hidden out of sight on the ceiling. A subtle yet stylish piece can be as good in attracting admiring eyes as the design sofa in your living room. Jalo Helsinki wants people to fall in love with their smoke alarms and let this essential everyday object find its way into as many homes as possible.
They asked two of the top designers in Finland to update the smoke alarm to the present day. Harri koskinen is known for his pure and innovative design idiom, and his creation, Kupu, is no exception. Paola suhonen captured our hearts with her original style and rock chick attitude. The result, Lento, is as wild as its creator.
Jalo Helsinki was not satisfied with just making the smoke alarm more attractive-looking, but they also enhanced its usability. Installing takes mere seconds with no need for screws or a power drill. There are no tiny push buttons, but the whole external casing acts as a press switch for silencing false alarms and testing the performance of the product. Let Jalo protect what you love!
